Flotilla 14-8 Instructors Information

Click This Link to instructor's workshop. This workshop is not required this year, but it contains valuable information. Take the workshop and get the self assessment form to Marion Linda so she can put it into AuxData II

We will be experiencing a shortage of instructors this year. Hopefully we can get a few more up and running. This shortage is going to make it a challenge to run  courses in both Duval and Clay Countys each month.

Clay County will teach "Boat Safe", a Free to the Student state sponsored course which is a fairly stripped down version of the former ABS. The student does not get the benefit of knowing whether or not they passed, as it is graded by the state.

In Duval County we will teach Boat America (BA). This is a course that came out during the COVID lockdown. This is the same course taught by the Power Squadron, and it is given as an online course "Boat ED". Compared to the ABS course, it is shortened from 7 chapters to 6 chapters. Some material is moved to chapters that you may not be seeing it in. We will also need to weed out duplication on the same subject from one chapter to another.

Many important slides from the old ABS course have been transferred to the Flotilla 14-8 version of Boat America. You should review the chapters to be familiar with the changes.
